@cutweldngrind ah. Ya I cranked it way up 4voltage and 35 wire feed. That seems to work for 1/8th to 1/4th somewhat. Seems like I got it to fuse not pretty of course. I took the gas shield off too helping with the tight spot and added some copper wire to my clamp. It's my dad's old welder he did horse shoe tack welds and 1/8th tubing with it mostly. Some flat steel too. He must have been pretty good at welding to use an inappropriate machine and have them hold this long.
This is what I have going to try these settings I was doing a thinner pipe onto quarter. Pipe as sticking good too much wire speed for quarter tho on what I did. Very splattery first welds ever. I think these are kind of a ranch or farm welder
My Hobart 125 will burn right thru that. It's frustrating.
Nice welder. I am a beginner. I am using a HOBART at work, looks similar to yours. The machine is solid and easy to use. I am considering buying one for my own personal use. Good review, thanks a bunch.👍
Mine is doing the same thing. A couple times it will lay a good bead then slip. Glad I found this video.
Great vid, thanks. Got this same mig a couple years ago, still working great 👍👍
Have the same problem. Thank you for saving me time and money.
I don't use the welder a lot but it still seems to be holding
How's it doing after all this time? A washer didn't fix mine from slipping :(
Hobarts, at least the older models are durable, my Handler 125 is nearly 20yrs old, and after a few 100 lbs of flux core run through it, the fan is the only thing that is need of being replaced. I also have the 210 MVP and it has been issue free for the last 9yrs. For spray arc, I would opt for a Miller or ESAB if not wanting to spend for a Miller.
Long time, no comment. But Hobart was my first ever welding machine. Little Handler 125. Wasn't much, but it got the job done back then. Now I've got an Esab Rebel 285 and Everlast 250ex. But I still have the 125 just in case for a quick emergency field repair.
Mine is doing the same aggravating thing! Going to try this. Thanks!
I usually buy stuff I dont need just because of sale price. I've used it a few times and works good. I do need to upgrade my electrical on my outlet.
If $4-600 is your price range I wouldn't waste your money or time with any of the Chinese welders, you can get a the Hobart 100 Handler(flux only) or the Handler 125(MIG/flux), for between $3-400, and currently the 100 is on sale at cyberweld.com for $239. While I can't comment on the current quality of the 100/125, the 125 I have is now 17yrs old with likely 150-200lbs of wire ran through it, and other than having to replace the fan motor about 5yrs ago, it hasn't skipped a beat. With it, I have welded up to 1/4" plate by beveling both edges, though for anything that would be under high stress, I limited it to 3/16, and most of what I welded with it was 1/8".
It works good but its very heavy. I hooked up this welder to my generator and still tripped a 20a breaker. If I am correct the machine pulls over 21 amps at max power. I was going to buy this when it dropped to 279 but I went after work and they were sold. I think its a decent started welder. The Titanium's are also good but they keep going up in price every few months.
still good, though I haven't been using it all the time
I tried to repair it with JB Weld, almost worked.
You need to do it the old man way weld up a real nice heavy duty cart with wheels stable work platform room for tools so you don’t have to bend way down to mess with it and make adjustments or anything else,,, i’ve got the same model I bought it about eight or 10 years ago or something like that at tool king it was factory reconditioned with a full warranty around Christmas time with free shipping so I bought it I haven’t used it a lot but I like it seems to work pretty good,,,I use mine powered by my gasoline powered generator so I don’t spin the electric ⚡️ meter real hard
I bought the Hobart Eazy 125 , the wire tensioner did not last long , so I checked my Harbor Freight wire tensioner surprise , same thing . So I beat the crap of my $87 bucks H F welder , and want to buy a better quality welder , and I ended up with a Hobart welder , with a crappy wire tensioner .
That sucks. I got a few years out of mine at least
Mine does the same crap I hate it
I bought one brand new and mine does the same thing I would never buy another one
since you have some experience with the 125ez you may have an idea of my problem. my father gave me his old one and it burns through the lining as if the amps are not controlled. any idea? please note this happens no matter what it is set at.
Mine did that at first too. I used a mini clamp to keep the pressure on the wire.
I have the 125 and it has bern a great little welder. Yet i do have a small problem with it. The tensioner broke on mine. Just the hinged bolt, otherwise its a pretty good set up.
