It is a well thought out machine and very solid. I am really enjoying it.
We used the Primeweld machines at work and they are good for home use.. not welding all day. We have 8 machines, every one of them had the motherboard go out before the year was up.
I have both a new miller dynasty 300 and a new primeweld 325x I e used both on everything from .02 stainless to alum and they are equal
I have brand new machines PrimeWeld 325x Miller dynasty 300 they are equal I have both only difference is my miller is water cooled my prime isn't
I've had my 225 amp one around 4 years now, around the two year mark I had an issue with it, sent it back no questions asked and a little over two weeks later it came back not only fixed but with a new top that was scratched and beat up from use. Just bought a 325 with water cooler for the longer runs at higher amps. I use this in a production shop, not every day but several days a month for hours at a time if not all day, no complaints.
@duaneduncan2380 still running good. I like it. Added a water cooler and size 20 torch.
Primeweld Tig 325x welds aluminum very well it’s bin amazing machine I’m now gonna replace my lincon MiG with the primeweld MiG 285 things a beast
Prime Weld's customer service is second to none. I am so impressed with their machine, my only complaint (and it's not a big deal) is the analog dials are not numbered, meaning you don't know what exact setting you are on, and the power switch is on the back, other than that it is a great machine.
Regarding the erratic arc start, as you (and others in the comments) have pointed out, make sure to use at least 1 sec of pre-flow and preferably even a little longer (I tend to run 1.3 sec). Plus, make sure your ground is very good (ground directly to the piece you’re welding or use your heat sink and make sure your piece has very good contact to the heat sink which is flat and has very good contact to the grounded table). And the third thing is this - when using the foot pedal, immediately go to at least 50% pedal before the arc starts so when the arc does start it’s a quick and direct burst of higher amps that tends to snap directly to your target rather than wandering around when you start too low and try to slowly feather the pedal during the arc start.
@amcustomfab I absolutely love the machine. Just needs a few minor improvements to make the machine that much better. Best value per dollar ratio of anything on the market now imo.
I agree 1.4 is the sweet spot for pulse That is definitely one of the more annoying things about this machine, but for the most part I love it
mine dose the same thing that is the only complaint i have with this machine. i have found the best wat to minimize it is the pre flow like you said and turn the start current/amps to 15 amps doesn't eliminate it but seemed to help
No fancy screens or intergraded water coolers but Primeweld is an awesome company. There products are the cheapest you want to spend when getting into a machine and expecting quality. They could easily raise their prices but choose not. N.J. Based so east coast shipping is really quick. Easier to use with better results than every old syncrowave square wave I’ve used and those are still being sold for 2x-3x the price of the new prime weld 325. 225 will cover most anything but if you thick you’ll be playing with thicker alum I’d go for the 325.
I have to agree I love my 325 but man the fans are loud!!! Fixed that by just using earplugs.
@davidmuller1958that’s fine but is it a “opinion” when you have a $600 welding machine that won’t weld you must be a primeweld fanboy, I’ve talked to numerous people that have had similar problems with primeweld and they had same issues there posts deleted and blocked from there group on Facebook book guess there is no bad reviews if folks get blocked 🤣 but the fact is here is is 5 months later and still have a machine that does not weld worth a damn it’s obviously a faulty unit which happens with every brand but the point is instead of guy says yeah something is wrong I’ll send you a new one then made every excuse to not just send a replacement being that it’s under “warranty”
Got mine around the same time, great welder so far.
I am glad they add future to show the value of each knob on the display , that what I miss on my 225. Is not such big deal when on DC , but sucks when using AC. Trying to find balance and frequency setting is kind the challenging. Probably not such big deal for experienced TIG welders, but for sure for the rest of us I think is. Will be nice if Primeweld come up with upgraded front panel with the same future as 325 have for 225, but not sure if is even possible.
I bought one just before they came on weldmonger store. Im quite amazed how nice it welds, just couldn't justify the $12,000 price tag on the standalone dynasty 400. The fan is louder, about the same as my old Syncrowave, not terrible. Its definitely as smooth as my 210 DX Dynasty, but wayyy more powerful !! Always been a red/blue guy we'll see how it goes, they're all made in China anyway. Throw it away in 5-10 years. I can buy 10 of these for the price of a chinese dynasty🤣🤣
Fan does not initially come on when the machine turns on but in my case, I have a water cooler that comes on and runs continually. The fan comes on after welding for a bit and runs for quite a while before kicking off. Once the fan comes on it runs for quite a while before cutting off. I have had several machines that did the same and some were louder ...some were not quite a loud as the 325.
I have the 325x with a 26 style gas cooled torch. My fan blows so much cooling air that I had to put up an air dam on my welding table so the gas wouldn't get blown away. I did not block the air outlet per PrimeWelds recommendations. My fan is whisper quiet. The fan is at the very front at the bottom of my 325x. Perhaps the cooling fans are located deeper inside the 225x? Maybe your fan mounting fasteners are a bit loose allowing vibration? Anyway I love my 325x 👍 Keep up the great videos.
Never tried 225. but i wrap 325 cable around my shoulder and dont even notice it. The 17 torch cable at 125A does get uncomfortably hot just sitting on-top of my shirt/shoulder after like 30m of welding (not 30m of arc time... 30m including looking at and messing with parts/welds, still just learning to weld, running beads).
Total newb here. Got the 325 in July, burned through about 100cf of argon so far. It is still going strong.
I welded some razor blades together with the 325x. Keep in mind that was my first time ever doing so, but it only took 5 welds for me to get it correct. Could get the weld width to about .040" wide and keep the ends crisp. Did 15-20 amps 1/16" lanthanated with 1/4" aluminum backing.
i have the same machine, i agree. i notice that too, cause i weld automotive sheetmetal (classic cars), id get that burst of amps and then it settles down. only way i found to get by on that is by trying to lay the welding rod right on the metal and hitting the tip of the rod and body, then back up some. other than that , i love the machine. i always used footpedals in the past and still do, but i gave the tig finger control a try when i was under a car and loved it for hard to reach pedal situations.. no more pedals between the knees laying on my back.. haha
I went with primeweld 325 instead of 225, because 325 displays values for all settings when you turn the dials. Like it so far, even on 120V circuit.
