The lincoln rangers have outlasted the miller bobcats at our landfill. I ran both for hardfacing mostly. Didn't care which i used they both stuck metal to metal. But the blue one kept having issues. Had to put a few electrical parts in it a few times. And finally it just quit and nobody fixed it and it sat for years. Meanwhile all ive done to the ranger 225 is pull the carb and clean it out and back to work it goes..... so take that for what its worth.

That's a nice welder. We had two of them. One analog and one digital. They are great machines

Only thing that compares to the Trailblazer is the Lincoln 330 mpx. I just run my lowly Ranger 225. For hvy equipment and truck/trailer repair….perfect. And I’m to cheap the give 8,000+ for the 330mpx.

Glad I could help you it really has served me well over the past couple years though I never really did much tig welding most of what I ended up doing was stick or off a small mig welder run off the generator side of the machine

I use it on jobs and it doesn’t seem any louder than other generators

Congratulations I hope you like it and it serves you well for many years to come! Mine has served me amazingly, sadly I don’t use it as much as I planned to, I mostly do shop work and only have around 50 bours on my machine

@adamswelding5052 good content man, enjoy it. I have had a ranger 225 and loved it as long as I've had it, but it was a big heavy and top big for my needs, taking up too much space on my small pickup. Sold and bought a used outback 185. Has 800 hours on it and running like new! Does everything the ranger would do and weighs 200 lbs lighter. And takes much less space on the truck. I don't see the engine going out anytime soon, was wondering where you got that from? Maybe I should start worrying! Also had a hobart champion 145 for a bit, o I loved that machine. Don't know about the longevity, haven't had it too long, but thing would do loads for its size. Only reason I sold it because had someone pay the same price as new

No it doesn’t have an arc force control on this machine, it has a coarse arc but it isn’t any different feeling than any other Lincoln machine I’ve used that doesn’t have a ace force control, it’s manageable though. The thinnest is would try to weld with would be 3/16 metal because even with skinny rods it still wants to burn through but once you get used to the machine it’s easy to figure out what you need to do to weld with it. You can look at some of the videos I have done with the machine, the welds come out a lot better when I’m not filming because it’s harder to weld reaching around the camera but you can get an idea from those videos, I haven’t been making videos in about year with it because I’ve had to change my course and do more shop work than mobile welding, so it doesn’t get used unless I’m welding on trailers

It came with the weld city Tig kit and yes it works I still use it now and then

Theoretically if you could get the arc to stabilize you could go lower but mine for sure has a very coarse arc and likes to blow holes in thin material easily, so I try to stay thicker than 1/8”

adamswelding5052Sep 25, 2019 Mixed

Not exactly sure lowest I’ve gone is 55amps on some 16ga ss, I’ve heard lowest it will stabilize an arc is 40 amps but I haven’t tried it.

Ranger 225’s are Gas guzzlers! I honestly cannot go through an 8 hour day without adding fuel. I used 2 of them them for 6 months, constantly hit duty cycle causing it to stop welding. Switched to Miller 325 EFI. I now can go 2 to 2.5 days on a tank of fuel and it welds so much smother than the 225 and 305. Not sure why Lincoln doesn’t step up the product quality a little. Some jobs I need 4 engine drives at a time. I’d consider Lincoln if I didn’t consistently have these issues. I’ve been welding for 30 years on almost every brand out there. It comes down to reliability and fuel cost for me. Please let me know if something better comes out. I need to purchase 2 more engine drives.
